A picture of Carmarthen

BR loco 71000 "Duke of Gloucester" approaching Carmarthen from the east with a "steam speciaL" excursion train. This locomotive was a "one off" among the BR standard designs, being the only 3-cylinder engine built by BR. It was supposed to the the first of a class of express locomotives, but the project was overtaken by the dieselisation programme.
