Devil's Bridge

Plunging in spectacular waterfalls to join the Rheidol, the Mynach has carved a 300ft deep ravine spanned by 3 bridges one on top of the other. The oldest bridge is the medieval stone bridge, built, as ledgend says by the Devil to help a woman to cross the river with a cow on the understanding that the first animal to cross the bridge was his; she outwitted him and sent her dog first. The second bridge was built in 1753 and the 3rd in 1901. This area was a popular Victorian beauty spot and there is a large hotel and tea house across the river that has changed little from the Victorian era. There is a steep path to the ravine floor on one side of the road and on the other side are promanades where the Victorian ladies would walk.
