Parys Mountain

The Mona and Parys copper mines were located on Parys Mountain about two miles south of Amlwch in Anglesey . It was here on 2nd March 1768 , that a large vein of copper ore was discovered . This later developed into the largest copper mine in the world . Walking up the slope from the car park I was immediately struck by the vivid range of colours in this rocky , almost moon-like , landscape.
