In the Lake District village of Elterwater, the independent Elterwater Hostel offers dormitories and private rooms, with a communal lounge and dining area. Nestled in Langdale Valley, this hostel also features free WiFi, home-cooked food, cycle storage and is also just 2 minutes’ walk from the local pub. Male, female and mixed dormitories have bunk beds and use of shared bathrooms and private showers. Guests can relax in the lounge and make use a well-equipped kitchen, drying room and storage facilities. Breakfast, evening meals and packed lunches can all be provided at an additional charge. These can be arranged on arrival. Parking is available in the National Trust Car Park, 350 feet from the hostel, and is free for National Trust Members The local area provides opportunities for hiking, cycling and climbing, and the town of Ambleside is around 4 miles away. Coniston and Bowness-on-Windermere are within 20 minutes’ drive, and Keswick is 30 minutes away. The iconic walking trails of Bowfell and Langdale Pikes are less than 5 miles away and the village of Grasmere, popular with poet William Wordsworth, is 2.9 miles away.
