About Thornthwaite Farm

Thornthwaite Farm is set amid the scenery of the Woodland Valley, in Broughton-in-Furness. Lake Windermere is just 13 miles from the property. The farm is located in a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation and has rare orchids and mosses on the land. It has 150 acres of woodland which guests are welcome to explore. Free WiFi and private parking is available. Each cottage offers views of the Lakeland Fells. There is a fully equipped kitchen which is fitted with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge, toaster and tea/coffee making facilities. You will also find a flat-screen TV. Bed linen is provided. Some of the cottages feature a seating and dining area. The farm is nestled in a diverse landscape including lowland flower meadows, ancient woods, rocky outcrops, streams and rivers. Walking, hiking and cycling are popular local activities. Other popular activities include badger watching at dusk, watching the fox cubs and watching the barn owls while they are hunting. Guests are also welcome to make use of the trout fishing lake which is owned by the farm. River bank fishing is also possible. Thornthwaite Farm is 20 miles from Bowness-on-Windermere which is home to The World of Beatrix Potter. Sizergh Castle is 25 miles away while Broughton-in-Furness Go Ape is 14 miles away.
