"Hi Paul, a truly remarkable picture for personal reasons. This is the house where my grandmother lived for many years until her passing away in 1968. It was a row of three almshouses and she lived in the first one, just inside the gate(not shown in picture). The picture shows a lovely garden but back then the garden did not exist. Instead it was the site of the outside toilets and washing copper room. Looking to the right of the picture, you can see the wall of the adjacent property. The lower portion of the wall was the back of the toilets. This picture has brought back happy memories of my childhood days spent there with my sister, parents and grandma. Thanks to the internet, google street views and your superb picture, I can show my mother, who is now 98, an upto date view of what was a distant memory." - David Smith(5th August 2012)
