Lewes Grange cat
"Nice scene, don't know about the cat though - I would have waited for it to go away. Don't like them." - Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)

"Like this, my kind of shot - but why mono?" - Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)

"A very pleasing shot" - Paul V. A. Johnson(28th July 2019)

"Thankyou for yor comments, Edward. It was truly a sunny day and in this shot the sun was fortunately not directly in front of me." - Mobscooter(28th July 2019)

St. Mary's Church, Ewelme
"Thanks for your kind comment, Chris & Sarah. The angle was dictated by the limited access around the tomb, not by artistic inspiration ! There are very few examples of Cadaver Tombs like this in England, the only others which come to mind are the one of Richard Fleming, Bishop of Lincoln, and that of Henry Chichele, Archbishop of Canterbury, although I'm sure there must be others. " - Edward Lever(27th July 2019)

Photo of St Mary's Platt by: Paul V. A. Johnson

St. Mary's Church, Platt
"This is a picture which demonstrates the difficulty of photographing church interiors which include stained glass windows. This example has the interior well exposed, but the windows are devoid of detail. On the other hand, if the window detail was to be seen, the interior would be excessively gloomy. This means extra attention is needed to get a pleasing result. First of all, careful exposure readings are needed, preferably using spot metering rather than average or evaluative metering, and then making a considered decision as to camera settings. Other techniques might help, such as using flash or HDR mode." - Edward Lever(27th July 2019)

Bodiam Castle Postern Gate
"It's so good to see one of your Bodiam Castle shots with a decent sky and good lighting. Such shots are rare on PoE, where most of the recent shots seem to be taken in drearily flat light. I like the angle too, so much better than 'straight-on' shots." - Edward Lever(27th July 2019)

Packhorse bridge
"A superb image, a good example of the quality of work which was exhibited on PoE over a decade ago. No high MegaPixels needed for excellent clarity (the image comes in at a modest 3 MegaPixel)." - Edward Lever(26th July 2019)

Photo of St Mary's Platt by: Paul V. A. Johnson

St. Mary's Church, Platt
"Great photo of a grand looking church. It certainly looks inviting with the open door and the arch of roses. Very nice. I couldn't find much information on the village itself, though did find a mention of it being picturesque so have marked it as so." - poe(26th July 2019)
