Known the world over as 'The Cenotaph' (literally 'empty tomb'), the London War Memorial was built in 1920. It was designed by Edward Lutyens and is situated in London's Whitehall. Its inscription reads "The Glorious Dead". Every year on the sunday closest to 11th November at 11:00AM a large remembrance service is held here to to commemorate the British servicemen who died in the two world wars. This remembrance service is usually attended by the Queen and other members of the roayl family.
