The Bowes Railway in Springwell Village is a Scheduled Ancient Monument - the last rope-hauled railway in the UK. The museum is open to the public at weekends and hosts a number of events throughout the year

Springwell Village bridleway

This 2/3rd's of a mile pathway skirts the former Springwell Quarry and provides excellent viewing of local wildlife. Also used by local riders, the path leads to the village of Eighton Banks after having crossed the Bowes Railway.
