Statue of Edward Winslow, Pilgrim Father, Droitwich Spa This small bronze statue of Edward Winslow was sculpted by Sara Ingleby-Mackenzie and is located in the St. Andrew’s Square shopping centre, Droitwich Spa. Born in 1595 in Droitwich and baptised in St Peter’s Church, Winslow was one of the founding fathers of America who sailed on the Mayflower in 1620. He served as a governor in Plymouth Colony for many years. Ingleby-Mackenzie depicts him having just made landfall and claiming the land that is now Provincetown on Cape Cod. History of Droitwich ceramic mural This mural, created by Joyce and Henry Collins, is in St. Andrew's Square and takes the form of seven ceramic relief panels. Figures depicted include King Ethelbald granting Evesham Abbey the right to mine Droitwich salt, King John granting salt rights to the burgess of Droitwich, St Richard in his bishop's robes and Edward Winslow, who was one of the original Pilgrim Fathers. Ceramic mural of Droitwich Spa Created by Philippa Threlfall, this ceramic mural was unveiled in 1976. It depicts the life and iconic buildings of the town. Church of the Sacred Heart and St Catherine of Alexandria in Droitwich The famous mosaics in the Church of the Sacred Heart and St Catherine of Alexandria in Droitwich were designed by Gabriel Pippet and made by Maurice Josey. Begun in 1921, the work took 12 years to complete. Eight and a half tons of glass tiles were imported from Venice for the purpose. Pippet travelled to Ravenna to study the mosaics there before undertaking the brief. This viewpoint is looking towards the west nave.
