Lulworth Range Walks, Dorset Like Salisbury Plain and some other M.O.D. establishments of this kind, the Lulworth Gunnery Ranges are looked after by both civilian rangers and Army personnel with special regard to nature preservation and wildlife conservation. Although it's' main purpose today is still a military one. The Range Walks, and the preserved remains of Tyneham Village are regularly open to the public. Whether you agree with the Army's continuing presence or not, the Tyneham Valley has escaped any unsightly tourism developments. It has been untouched by modern intensive farming practices and is a haven for wildlife, supporting many rare and threatened species.
