Apex House, Hemingford Grey Apex House: Aptly named being at the apex of the triangle that was the original village. The house was originally a pub called the Wagon and Horses. There would have been a green here with the village stocks, pillory and whipping post, also the a cattle pound. Grey Hall, Hemingford Grey Grey Hall: built as a vicarage in 1854, has been flats, business premises and a hotel. Now recently restored as a family home. St Francis House, Hemingford Grey St Francis House: built in the 1800s, first a farm, then home of the Bevan family, local bankers. It housed the village morgue during the war. St James Church, Hemingford Grey St James Church, Hemingford Grey, from the south bank of the Great Ouse. Over 800 years old. The original spire was blown down in a hurricane on 8th September 1841, the force of the wind enough to hurl one stone twenty yards and break a window pane on the house behind. Inside the church, the Norman Arch Is the oldest part of the building. See also the double piscina, mediaeval font and ancient parish chest. The stained glass window in the south aisle is a memorial to the Margetts family, churchwardens for 150 years. The Parish Centre, Hemingford Grey The Parish Centre: originally a school opened In 1853. closed in 1905 and converted Into the Church Rooms, now called the Parish Centre. The Post Office was opened In 2002 and claims to have been the first post office to have had a Minister of the Church as postmaster.
