A picture of Wellingore The Marquis of Granby, Wellingore, Lincolnshire There are many pubs bearing the name the Marquis of Granby for good reason. John Manners, Marquis of Granby was a general in the 18th century. He showed a great concern for the welfare of his men upon their retirement and provided funds for many to establish taverns, which were subsequently named after him. A picture of Wellingore The Anglican parish church at Wellingore, Lincolnshire, was built in the 13th century & sits perched on the edge of the cliff. It is dedicated to All Saints. The parish register dates from 1653 and mentions the Great Fire of London in 1666 and the "extirpation" that same year of Boothby church by a hurricane.
