Bodiam Castle

This is the sight of the Barbican with portcullis of Bodiam Castle which was built by Sir Edward Dallingridge , King's Knight and MP. in around 1385. It is now under the control of The National Trust.

Bodiam Castle Postern gate. The medieval bridge crossed from the octagonal, stone island of Bodian Castle, over the moat to the estate land.

Bodiam mallard

A Bodiam mallard duck, abundantly plenty in the moat and grass surrounding the castle. They are eternally hungry!

Bodian Barbican

Here we can see the inside view to the Barbican entrance, the portcullis cannot be seen from here but we can notice that the internal walls, flooors and ceilings have all been removed. Thre courtyard is now all grassed.
