North Shields This is a view of North Shields taken from the Groyne lighthouse in South Shields. The two white towers in North Shields are called the High and Low Lights. Sailors use them to guide their ship into safe harbour at night by aligning their beams one above the other and they then know there's nothing to hinder them to their quay.
