The Quarterhouse.

The Quarterhouse.

This was taken by my niece in the mid sixties when Banks' Brewery bought out the Johnson and Phipps's Brewery and the rot set in. The pub was never the same again and after having numerous managers it was finally sold to a developer.

No Holy Trinity church, no Quarterhouse pub.

No Holy Trinity church, no Quarterhouse pub.

The same junction taken a couple of years ago. The War Memorial is still there and also the stone gateposts to the Church. The quarterhouse has been demolished and the site fenced off. It is still like that to this day. The greedy developer who wanted to build on it couldn't get his own way with the planning authorities and is trying to sell it on. Serves him right the pub was a great place and the last to be built by the Johnson and Phipps Brewery, Fryer Street , Wolverhampton.

Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church

The Holy Trinity Church, Compton Road, Wolverhampton. This picture was taken in the early sixties. Alas the Church is no more, neither is the Quarterhouse public house which can be seen in the background behind the War Memorial. In place of the Church we now have flats and the ground the Quarterhouse stood on is a complete eyesore as nothing has replaced it. Talk about progress! Robert.
