Sunrise over Fiddlers Ferry, Cuerdley Cross. I took this as the sun was rising, casting a vivid red light over the power station at Fiddlers Ferry. I put my longest lens on, and shot this from my study window in Gateacre, Liverpool some eight miles away. A rather lazy bit of work by me! Fiddlers Ferry is still powered by imported coal. There were many mines in this area, all now closed. I sometimes wonder how much coal remains in these old pits. Picture taken 19-01-2015. Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, Cuerdley Cross, Cheshire. I took this on the morning of 23rd November 2013, from Gateacre in Liverpool, quite a few miles away, but the misty light caught my attention. Not a "pretty" shot but power stations can be rather striking. This one is still coal powered.
