Appleton lies on a quiet country road which runs from Cumnor to the north east towards Longworth and Hinton Waldrist to the south west, and which runs virtually parallel with the busy A420 Oxford to Swindon road. The road winds through the centre of the village past several old stone and thatched cottages.
