St. Lawrence's Church, Bessels Leigh St. Lawrence's unfortunately is no longer in use. Parts of the building date from the Norman period although the church was rebuilt in the latter part of the 13th century. The church is close to the location of the former manor house which is now demolished and only the gate posts now remain. Bessels Leigh Bessels Leigh (sometimes spelt as one word) is a tiny village that stretches some 300 yards along a lane off the busy A420 Oxford to Swindon road. On the main road at the entrance to the village is a popular pub, The Greyhound and half a mile away along the main road is the little village church, St. Lawrence's, which unfortunately is no longer in use.
