A pretty decoration around the village well in Broad Hinton Broad Hinton is in the west of the Marlborough Downs on the broad chalk ledge between two small escarpmets. The village is set in spacious countryside at the head of the Kennet valley, a few miles south-west of Swindon close to the Ridgeway Path. The Church of St. Peter ad Vincula, Broad Hinton At the heart of Broad Hinton is the lovely 12th century church of St. Peter ad Vincula where Saxon relics have been found and the earliest church records date from the 13th century. The earliest parts of the church include an Early English Gothic priest's doorway which was later moved from the chancel to the organ chamber.
