Gatehouse?

These stand in front of a field close to Hademore Crossing (now replaced during the West Coast Mainline upgrade 2006/7) and appear to be the remains of a gate/gatehouse which, from the look of them it must have been a substantial building. I am surprised that I have been unable as yet to identify what they may have been the entrance to!
