Almost certainly dates from 1870, when the tunnel on the Oxford canal at Fenny Compton was opened out, and the turnover bridge was built.

This was a temporary kiln built circa 1775 for making the bricks with which to construct the Canal tunnel at Fenny Compton. The tunnel was opened out in 1870, so the kiln survives the tunnel it was built for.
