Silchester, Hampshire. Part of the Roman defense walls that surrounded the Roman town of Calleva Attrebatum built in 45AD, with the later Church of St Mary in the background. It originally enclosed 107 acres and took about 10 years to complete, using flint and stone from a variety of sources as far away as Bath.
