Herdwick Sheep on the Kirkstone Pass

Just about the only life you see on the Kirkstone Pass is the Herdwick sheep. The breed is well suited to this mountainous environment and the lambs are born black, so the one nearest to the mother is this year's. Then the grey slowly develops, so the other lamb is from last year and it will soon drift away from the mother and younger lamb.
