The Ford in Eynsford, Kent The ford across the River Darent in Eynsford predates the medieval stone bridge by at least 1000 years as it is known to have been used in Roman times, but the bridge is too narrow to carry heavy traffic, so the ford is still in use. Its also something of a social centre, as children are often seen paddling there in the summer, while the families use the adjacent village green.
