1st May brings back memories of the 50's for me, my dad used to get 2 wooden hoops from the butter barrels deliverd to the local co-op store,, nail them to the top of and old broom handle and mum would cover with colourd crepe paper and flowers. the children would wait outside the local factory gates and dance around the maypole for 'pennies' lo. all very inocent and a boost to our 'pocket money'
