New Walk has always been traffic free, the New walk starts in the city centre and leads up to Victoria Park, the idea of New Walk being traffic was to allow the citizens of Leicester to walk in there best outfits to Victoria Park then a race course, without having to walk past horse droppings that were all over the place back then.
