Tayport In 2010 a Second World War railway wagon was discovered buried in the sand on Tentsmuir beach. It was originally used to transport ammunitions and supplies as well as for gunner practice by the air force training unit from nearby Leuchars. A target, mounted on the wagon, was powered by a small motor. tayport Polish Forces, based in Scotland, constructed the World War II defences], whose remains are still evident on Tentsmuir beach and hidden within Tentsmuir forest. The sandy beaches at Tentsmuir would have made an ideal landing location for German invasion troops in 1940. The coast needed defending. Tayport Ice House, Tentsmuir Forest The old Ice House in Tentsmuir Forest in Fife. In the past, used to store ice from local ponds and ice landed from ships at Tayport.
