La Ronde - Interior Most fascinating house, A La Ronde is an 18th-century 16-sided house located near Lympstone, Exmouth, Devon, England, and in the ownership of the National Trust. The house was built for two spinster cousins, Jane and Mary Parminter. It is a Grade I listed building,[1] as are the adjacent Point-In-View chapel, school and almshouses,[2] together with a manse,[3] which were also built by the cousins. La Ronde A 16-sided spectacle An early impression of A la Ronde An early impression of A la Ronde In 1784 Jane Parminter, daughter of a wealthy Devon wine merchant, set off on a grand tour of Europe accompanied by her invalid sister Elizabeth, an orphaned cousin, Mary, and a London friend, Miss Colville. Over several years these intrepid women explored France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and possibly Spain and Portugal, before returning to England. Elizabeth died soon afterwards.
