Guy's Cliffe House

The ruins of Guy's Cliffe House is supposed to be one of the most haunted, Guy of Warwick's ghost-a tall figure with full beard-is said to roam the corridors and grounds around the house, Phantom footsteps have also been known to follow visitors in the wine cellar, and a young girl crying has been heard, add to that the apparition of a hand has been seen pressed against a wall. In 1992, during the filming of an episode of Sherlock Holmes, a pyrotechnical stunt went wrong and the property nearly burned down to the ground. It is only open to the public 1 day a year and is now owned by and used as a Masonic Lodge.

Guy's Cliffe House

Guy's Cliffe House is a stunning ruin of an 18th and 19th century house. Sadly due to neglect and spiraling repair costs it had been left open to the elements. In 1952 an auction was held to raise funds for the repair but everything, even the lead from the roof and all internal fittings were sold in error leaving only an empty shell. In 1992 during filming of the T.V series 'Sherlock Holmes and The Last Vampire', a staged fire got out of control and further damaged the house beyond repair. It is listed as one of the most haunted houses in Britain.
