Tunnel under the Thames This tunnel was built by the Brunel father and son team. It was the first tunnel under any river and was originally a foot tunnel. It was taken over by the East London Railway and now forms part of the newly refurbished East London Line. The public were allowed access in March 2010, the first time in about 145 years.
