Haworth, West Yorkshire Lower Laithe Reservoir is located near Haworth, West Yorkshire. Unlike other reservoirs in the area which are somewhat bleak in nature, this one has a character of its own with its Victorian sluice house and surrounding pine trees. Together with nearby Ponden Reservoir it supplies water to communities within the Worth Valley and to the town of Keighley. This area has traditional connections with the Bronte sisters and as a result, is much used by tourists visiting this scenic location. Lower Laithe drains nearby Haworth and Stanbury Moors and the surrounding moorland provides habitat for birds including meadow pipit, linnet and wheatear. This photograph was taken from the narrow road which crosses the embankment and reached by a track leading down from nearby Penistone Hill.
