Girvan, South Ayrshire St.Colmon's Church is a rural church in Colmonell, a small village in the beautiful Stinchar Valley near the town of Girvan in South Ayrshire. The name is derived from St.Colmon of Ella who brought Christianity to the area. The church dates from 1772 and has exceptional stained glass windows. The River Stinchar is an important salmon river and runs close to the church. On the opposite bank stand the ruins of Craigneil Castle. Girvan, South Ayrshire Girvan Harbour. Girvan is located 22 miles south of Ayr in Scotland. Originally a fishing port it became a traditional seaside resort. Culzean Castle is 8 miles north of the town and the once volcanic island of Ailsa Craig is visible offshore. The coastline south of Girvan is famous for its geology and abundance of fossils.
