City of Adelaide clipper ship at Greenwich The City of Adelaide is the oldest clipper ship in the world (1864) and one of only two remaining. The other of course is the Cutty Sark. The ship was brought to Greenwich in October 2013 for a renaming ceremony performed by the Duke of Edinburgh. There had been a name change in 1923 and since 2001 she had been known again as City of Adelaide but a renaming ceremony had not been performed. She is off to Australia to be restored as a museum ship and she had to be renamed before the journey because bad luck may fall on her if she hadn't been renamed before setting out to sea.
