Church Gate Cottage, Lingfield. The cottage at the entrance gate to the church of St. Peter and Paul at Lingfield is just one of many listed buildings in Lingfield. There are many such buildings around the church, the one I found interesting is now the local library but was originally accommodation for students of the College for Secular Chaplains ( POE pic id no. 1178896 ). The House by the Churchyard Taken from the Churchyard this house has either the most wonderful position or the most worrying of positions. It seems the front gate opens directly into the Churchyard and looks straight onto the main door at the end of the Church itself. Whatever, there will never be any development to worry about and anyway this looks so English. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Lingfield Library - the 'Guest House' Taken from the Churchyard of Lingfield Church this building believe it or not is the local library. The 15th century timber framed building is known as the 'Guest House' as it was once a place people attending the old monastic Lingfield College would stay. Bequeathed to Surrey County Council for public use in 1954 the building now houses the library and retains many original features.
