Dornoch Cathedral The Cathedral was founded in the 13th century by Gilbert de Moravia, Bishop of Caithness. It suffered from fire damage in the sixteenth century, was partially restored in the seventeenth century and the restoration was completed in the eighteenth century by architects William Leslie and Alexander Coupar at the instigation of Elizabeth, Countess of Sutherland. Madonna was married at Skibo castle about 3 miles west of Dornoch. Her son, Rocco, was baptised in the Cathedral the night before the wedding.
