Judges' Lodgings and Museum of Childhood

Judges' Lodgings and Museum of Childhood

Lancaster's oldest town house, dating from the 17th century. Originally home to witch hunter Thomas Covell. Use of the house by visiting judges ended in 1975, and the building was converted into a museum. This includes a Museum of Childhood, and a collection of furniture made by the Lancaster firm of Gillows.

John of Gaunt, Lancaster Castle

A statue of the first Duke of Lancaster over the gateway of Lancaster Castle. He was father and grandfather of Kings Henry IV and V respectively and stands between their coats of arms.
