About Ampfield

Ampfield is a serene, picturesque village set amid glorious Hampshire countryside just a short distance from Romsey and within striking distance of Knapp Hill which has a wealth of attractive thatched cottages.

The village is noted for it beautiful Neo-Gothic style church. St. Marks, was begun in 1838 and finally consecrated in 1841. The church stands in a tranquil wooded setting and remains largely unaltered from the time when it was built. It is a lovely church which is well worth seeing.

Ensconced in the glorious Test Valley, Ampfield and surrounding villages offer much of interest for those who enjoy exploring ancient, out-of-the-way places. The valley is spacious and green, the larger town of Romsey is a joy and within easy driving distance there are all the pleasures of the New Forest.
