Well I finally arrived in Stratford upon Avon and am currently moored in the canal basin opposite the Theatre. Just a few feet from my stern doors is a statue of Shakespear and the incription mentions something we are all aware of ........Shadow !

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player,

That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more.

Luckily by having this great site we are able to record our passing moments for all time.

Every other person in the town seems to be carrying a camera and everthing is being photographed, but saddly I have yet to find anything to inspire me .

And now to ask the question .....  What is the most photographed TOWN. ( not city )

Perhaps someone has the answer or maybe the administrators can do a quick search.

All best wishes, Patrick.

Patrick if you go to Explore England > Towns then you can go through the alphabetical list of "Towns of England" to get an answer, lol.

However, I have done it out of interest anyway, and give a list hereunder of the TOWNS listed (if you don't agree that these are towns please speak to the PTB (Powers That Be))

London 2119 photographs,   York 704,   Lincoln 549,   Whitby 539, Oxford 518,   Bath 489,   Great Yarmouth 427,   Liverpool 423,    Stoke Newington 373,   Keswick 362,   Hartlepool 344,           Kingston Upon Hull 340, Worksop 327, Brighton 281, Eastbourne 280, Rye 268, Portsmouth 266, Scarborough 265, Beeston 264.

This is correct at 6.00 pm (18h00) today, so unless Ron has uploaded photos whilst I typed this it should be OK, lol.

Hi Marjorie,

You beat me to it .................  I was just going to point that out.

Seeing the amount of picture taking here in Stratford on Avon prompted me to ask the question.  I suspect Whitby is high on P.O E because of a certain member.

Cathyml ........I see that you hinted that the name Towns should be Cities so please ignore anything about being wrong !

Regards, Patrick

Hi Marjorie & Patrick, I only reported what was listed on POE under TOWNS (and those cities were on the list of Towns, who am I to argue, lol.)  However are you sure that Brighton is a City - I don't think so but am happy to be corrected.

OK I googled it and it reports that Brighton is a major part of the City of Brighton & Hove which is made up of the previous towns Brighton, Hove, Portslade and several other villages.  So it would appear that Brighton itself is not a City but that Brighton & Hove (and all the other little villages) are a City. ???

Hi,

I am thinking that perhaps we should leave out P.O.E in the equation and look on the internet, even perhaps 'Ask Jeeves'
