My apologies once more...my message to you, Lorraine, was meant to be in poetic form. I'm sure you will understand.

If anyone is unfamiliar with William Blake's - "A Poison Tree", these are the words, followed by my parody on his poem.

  W.Blake:

I was angry with my friend

I told my wrath, my wrath did end.

I was angry with my foe:

I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I water'd it in fears,

Night and morning with my tears;

And I sunn-ed it with smiles,

And with soft deceitful wiles.

And it grew by day and night,

Till it bore an apple bright.

And my foe beheld it shine,

And he knew that it was mine.

And into my garden stole,

When the night had veild the pole;

In the morning glad I see

My foe outstretched beneath the tree

********************************************

My Parody:

Yield Not to Temptation

Sitting on my neighbor's chair
Alone, no-one else was there;
A rosy apple I did see
Hanging precariously on its tree.
I eyed it with intrepid lust,
To taste the fruit I simply must.
Looking cautiously around -
I dared not risk that I be found
If I should submit to succulent lure
And sample of its sweetness, pure.
Guiltily I arose from my seat,
Another's apple I would eat.
Oblivious to my neighbor's needs
I would consume it to its seeds.
Tenderly, I plucked the crop;
Now, I knew I could not stop.
My anticipated gratification
I would enjoy to my satisfaction.
I sank my teeth into the tissue,
My mouthful was not an issue;
Until I took another bite,
And there, before me, a most unpleasant sight.
Within the tempting apple's heart
Something gave me quite a start.
I saw half a nasty grub begin to squirm.
I then realized I had eaten half a worm.

Harry

Thanks Harry,

I won't be looking for another job for a while-- I'm going to get a new knee next Monday!----so I'll rest for the Summer???? ---that's the bit which comes between April and September.

Joking aside, I am a bit long in the tooth to find a new job----employers only want young things, but I'm sure something will turn up to keep me occupied ,  or you are going to see an awful lot of my pictures on this site--be prepared  POE!!

Thanks Lynn & Ray for your comments--Lynn, I hope you don't need to borrow my poem!!

I don't know how you do it, Harry.  Wonderful!

Lorraine - I hope all goes well with your knee replacement.  And as far as the job goes, I think most people can testify that when one door closes, another always opens.  Hang in there and keep the faith.  Smile

Sigh....how sad, Ray. He didn't make it then? :(. What a beautiful story. I agree with Ruth, you really are a softie (but i like the way she put it better :). Keep writing !

....and finally to Maria, my wonderful friend.

I just want to say to you that no one can put things better than you.

I know you struggle to find the words in English. I know too that no-one forgets that this is not your native tongue.

I am sure that others on this forum admire and appreciate how you are able to join in and express yourself so  well in this language of ours which we, as native speakers, find so difficult at times.

I wonder Maria, how many of us could contribute to an Italian forum, speaking Italian, but making ourselves understood, as you are able. What an achievement!

Ciao.

Ray.

I agree wholeheartedly with Ray, Maria!

To Lyn, and  all,  everything went well with regard to the biopsy today.  Thankyou for your good  wishes everyone..Of course I won't know the results for three weeks. Meanwhile I'll continue doing what I enjoy most - writing poetry...This one compares the running, river waters to one's constant love

“Muhheakunnuk"
(muh–he–con-nuk)

The Hudson River, USA, was known to the Beothuk Indians by this name.
Roughly, it translates as “Great waters constantly in motion”
************************************************************

Flowing constantly in motion
As my love forever with devotion
Yours to own and mine to give
For as long as we shall live
Sometimes shallow sometimes deep
But always there for you to keep
Sometimes stormy sometimes calm
Yet never will I do you harm
And as the night falls upon your crest
I lay my head upon your breast
That I may listen to the motion
Of your river of devotion.

Regards,

Harry

Warts, boils carbuncles and spots

When it comes to acne I got lots

The biggest spot ever bin

Was the size of a penny

On the end of my chin

It age me great joy and much much glee

As I splattered the mirror in front of me

 Please don’t judge me by my cover !!!
