Fox Glove Flowers in my garden at Caversham

Fox Gloves produce huge amounts of seed and I have been fortunate to have these bee-friendly flowers reappearing each year in early summer. This photo shows the fine hairs at the entrance to the flowers. The fine hairs discourage small insects from entering the trumpet, but do not stop the bees getting in and pollinating the flowers.

A lovely shot of this beautiful flower. Had a few in our garden many years ago.

Thank you Chris & Sarah. Foxgloves only flourish with the right amount of light (partial shade) and a humus rich soil. If the conditions are right, they will self-seed and continue from year to year perpetually. Our garden is shaded by a mature oak tree and this seems to be the sort of light foxgloves like.
