My aim is to get the result I want at the time of shooting, with little or no subsequent editing. Maybe this is because I grew up with film, where everything needs to be as right as possible first time.
I now work mainly with digital cameras, but my experience of film still informs me of the best settings. I usually set my camera to 'Manual' and rarely rely on 'Auto' settings.
