Demolition near Reading Station

Yet more demolition in dear old Reading Town, once known for its fine Victorian redbrick architecture, making way for more concrete and glass.

I'm assuming you don't get to see much of the Victorian architecture now Edward.

If you look to the right of the picture, part of the old Town Hall building is still visible. The predominantly red-brick architecture of Reading was immortalised by Thomas Hardy in his novels by giving the town the alias 'Aldbrickham'. Visitors to the town these days will see little of this heritage, the planners having done their best to allow anything interesting to be replaced by abysmal office blocks.
