About Trelissick Garden

Lying in a favoured position at the head of the Carrick Roads, almost islanded by the River Fal and two of it's numerous creeks is the beautiful Trelissick Estate. This fascinating estate was presented to the National Trust in 1955, it has a magnificent garden which was laid out early in the 19th-century by a man whose wealth came from tin and copper mines.

Gloriously wooded, with beautiful riverside walks, the garden is a year round riot of fabulous colours. There is an abundance of bright camellia's, rhododendron's and magnolia. The garden is notable for countless varieties of hydrangea and azalea. Informal lawns are planted with great cedars and cypresses and in the woodland setting there are huge holm oaks and conifers. Also to be seen is an amazing variety of exotic plants including palms, a banana tree and ginkgo.

The garden is open all the year round but the house, from which there are spectacular views of the Carrick Roads and beyond, is not open to public view. There is an interesting art and craft gallery.

This magnificent estate offers 500 acres of sheer enchantment for everyone - it is a garden with a 'cherished' feel to which you could easily return again and again.

Places to visit include: Pendennis Castle, Falmouth, Truro, St.Just-in-Roseland, St.Anthony Head or even enjoy a river trip along the estuary.
