About Brushford

This is a sleepy little village lying within easy reach of the Dartmoor National Park, it has a wealth of leafy lanes and pleasant cottages and houses.

Local shops, cafes and public houses are amongst the amenities of the village, with the focal point being the historic church dedicated to St. Mary which has parts from 1510. The church bell tower was an addition of the early 19th century and there is restoration of the late 20th century.

The village was the home of the Luxton family whose family members are commemorated by stained glass and other monuments in the church.

Brushford is sparsely populated, thus it is idyllic for exploring the close-by River Taw, Dartmoor, the Exmoor National Park and the North and South Devon coasts.
