About Starcross

Fast trains thundering past the sands of this pleasant resort town give travellers a tempting glimpse of the pleasures to be found at Starcross.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel's rail line first came here in the early part of the 19th century, the trains brought Victorian tourists to Starcross to enjoy the fine sights and the sea air, memories of those days are kept alive by the old pump house next to the station.

The resort stands at the estuary of the River Exe, giving visitors splendid opportunities for sailing, fishing and diving. A ferry carries passengers across the Exe to Exmouth and you can take pleasure trips out at sea from whence you get good views of beautiful Devon coastal scenery.

Starcross has a gentle atmosphere, many pleasant Victorian and Edwardian properties to be seen, some nice shops and several excellent inns. There is a mini golf course and the attraction of a jetty and a yacht club.
