About Bryanston

This is the home of a famous public school housed in a mansion built around 1890 for the Portman family. The house is set in immaculate grounds where there is a Chapel of the same period.

The town was initially the town of Brian de Lisle, a Baron at the court of King John. The Rogers family owned it for a long period of time, and it was later purchased by Sir William Portman, who took part in Monmouth's rebellion in 1685.

The village of Bryanston occupies an idyllic location, it is perfect for exploring Blandford Forum, Wimbourne Minster and the wider landscape of "Hardy's" Wessex, it is also within easy reach of Poole harbour and the seaside town of Weymouth.
