About Piddlehinton

Piddlehinton is a picturesque village in the Piddle valley in the county of Dorset, and is 5 miles north of the county town of Dorchester. It has one pub called The Thimble, and also a microbrewery - 'the Dorset Piddle Brewery' which produces 300 gallons of ale week. St Mary's Piddlehinton is the local church. There was an airstrip in Piddlehinton during the build-up to D-day, operated by the US Army using their Piper L-4 Grasshoppers that was widely used as a light observation aircraft.
