About Harefield

Harefield is a village in Greater London, famous for its hospital where pioneering heart surgery techniques were developed. The church cemetery at St. Mary the Virgin contains the graves of over 100 Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who died at the local field hospital after being recovered from the battlefields in France during WWI. There is a commemoration service held there each year on ANZAC day, attended by local dignitaries, ex servicemen, school children, and representatives from the Australian and New Zealand governments. Buildings of note around Harefield are the old manor house which is now Harefield Place Golf Club, and Harefield House (c. 1750), which is a Grade 2 listed building in the high street, now offices.
