About Capernwray

There is a lovely timeless atmosphere surrounding this old Lancashire village, maybe this is caused by the gracious properties hidden amongst the leafy lanes of the area, its picturesque Methodist church from 1888, the beautiful, imposing 19th century Capenwray Hall, or perhaps it is all of this coupled with vast open skies and lovely scenery that make it so special.

The village is hemmed between the fine scenery of the northern end of the Lancashire coast and the wild flowing landscape of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with its waterfalls and crags. It is also adjacent to England's famous Lake District.

Apart from being noted for its tranquillity and beauty, Capernwray is famous as a diving centre, with one of the best diving school's in the UK. The centre, opened in 1995, occupies the site of the former Jackdaw Quarry. Since its inception, the Capernwray Diving Centre has flourished, it is now able to offer the most excellent of facilities including a "state of the art" clubhouse, with restaurant, licensed bar, conference suite and a stunning terrace overlooking the activity taking place below as the divers enter the water. The school has a highly professional, yet friendly approach to student training, making it hugely successful. Its idyllic location comes as an added bonus.

Visitors to Capernwray will find pleasant cottages, and plenty of flora and fauna to explore. The village makes an ideal destination for anyone wishing to explore what is after all, one of England's most highly scenic regions.
